As we look at this new year with hope and promise, there is no denying we are in a time of turmoil and great flux in our nation and within our health care 鈥渟ystem.鈥� The promises of historic investments in health care laid out by President Biden early in 2021 are still a work in progress, but coming closer into view.

Our past 91大神 PharmFree Fellow (2012-2013)听Reshma Ramachandran, MD, MPP,听is now a board-certified family physician and second-year fellow in the Yale National Clinician Scholars Program. Her research focuses on the realignment of incentives for health care stakeholders including pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, and universities toward prioritizing equitable patient access to safe, effective health technologies. She recently co-authored an听听discussing a听recently published study听she and her colleagues conducted in which they found that out-of-pocket costs for senior Medicare beneficiaries with multiple, common chronic conditions have risen significantly over the past decade. In the op-ed, she and her colleagues note how these findings highlight the urgency for structural drug pricing reforms as included in the Build Back Better package.
